K&M Technology Group's Real-Time Operations Surveillance Service (ROPS) is our superior remote support service offering support service that is ideal for clients who desire K&M’s technical oversight during their operations while trying to keep costs low by not having personnel at the wellsite.  This service is provided by our Operations Specialists where up to three rigs can be monitored simultaneously. It provides support to a variety of aspects of the operation including the monitoring of every connection all the way down to the operational practices used at the wellsite to ensure that appropriate practices are being implemented.  The deliverables from the provision of the ROPS service will be important to the execution of the current well and the design of and the learnings from the operation will be captured at an end of well report and provided to the client at the conclusion of the service to ensure future wells can benefit from these experiences.

Real-Time Operations Surveillance Service (ROPS)

  • Step by step written instructions on the connection procedure necessary to safely prepare the hole for turning off the pumps, minimize hydraulic surging, collect torque & drag data, and resume drilling, with consideration given to the required surveying procedure.
  • EDRs will be used to compile and extract the necessary data points required for reporting. 
  • The condition of the well is constantly monitored by evaluating measured surface loads and pressures, ECD, surge, and swab, and comparing them to those predicted in the “road maps”
  • A “Connection Update” will be provided after each connection is made while drilling, tripping / reaming, and running casing/liner
  • Each “Connection Update” will include current torque, drag, and hydraulic roadmap plots with actual data plotted against the model
  • Each “Connection Update” will highlight any impending issues and will include recommendations to improve operations
  • Each “Connection Update” will include a Drilling Mechanics summary (in plot format) with ROP, WOB, RPM, Torque, Flow Rate, MSE, and Gamma-Ray (when available).
  • Drilling parameter optimization recommendations will be made to improve ROP, minimize vibrations, and extend tool life, and ROP limits will be identified based on analysis of the hole condition as changes are applied
  • A Daily report will be prepared and submitted each morning, which will include a generic description of the operations, a hole condition assessment, roadmap plots including hindcasts and lookaheads, and recommendations when necessary on the current operation.
  • Basic Torque, Drag and Hydraulic calculations will be performed for the upcoming hole section prior to running in hole with the drilling BHA
  • Surge and swab modeling and tripping schedules will be provided in accordance with defined wellbore pressure limits (if available)
  • Modeling is performed to predict loads required to successfully set liner hangers and packers
  • A basic End of Well Report that includes a compilation of the data collected and plots that were generated during the reporting portion of the well.
